Community Lenten Services
Once again this year, several churches in Mount Carroll will be joining together for Wednesday evening worship during Lent. They invite the entire community to these events.
The service will be at Mount Carroll United Methodist Church. Fellowship begins at 6:00 p.m. with a free soup meal at host church, followed by a short worship service at 7:00 p.m., with the Ten Commandments as the theme, this year.
St. John’s Lutheran Church , Pearl City, IL
12 pm-Lenten Luncheon at the Pearl City United Methodist Church. 6 pm-Lenten Meditation in the Sanctuary and the reading of the Book of Luke in Luther Hall. 6:30 pm-Midweek Lenten Service in Luther Hall.
Milledgeville Woman’s Club
The Milledgeville Woman’s Club will meet on Wed., March 10 for lunch in Mt Carroll and go to the Historical Society Museum in Savanna at 1:30 P.M.
Lenten Service & Soup Supper
Mid-Week Lenten Service and Soup Supper at Trinity Lutheran Church 312 High St. Lanark beginning with the service at 6:00 pm followed by the soup supper at 6:30. This week they will be serving hamburger vegetable soup.

Catholics Invited to Return Home
Area Catholic Churches will be conducting an ongoing series called “Catholics Returning Home” on six consecutive Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton beginning on February 24. These sessions are for Catholics who have been away from the practice of their faith for any reason, and who are now seeking answers to questions they may have about returning to the Church. The sessions promise to be welcoming and informal, and will include updates about the Catholic faith. No RSVP necessary. GriefShare Seminars
GriefShare is a 13 week video seminar support group that will begin meeting on Thursday February 18th at 6:00 p.m. and each Thursday thereafter. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, parent, sibling or other family member or friend through death, you probably have questions. Each week there will be interaction with others who have also experienced losses. Light refreshments will be served. Biomass Conversion Workshop
The Biomass Conversion to Heat & Electricity Workshop: Molding Today’s Technology for Tomorrow’s Bioenergy Feedstock Supply Chain will benchmark the existing solid biomass for fuel technologies and supply chain components. Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge will hold their monthly meeting on Friday, March 19th at 11:00 at the Ingersoll Wetlands Learning Center. 1st Annual Soup Supper
Men of First Presbyterian Church in Savanna will be serving a Soup Supper Wednesday, March 24 before the InterChurch Council Lenten Service. The group will be offering 4 different homemade soups, homemade bread and a special dessert. A free will offering will be asked. Serving will begin at 5:30 PM to enable everyone to attend the lenten service that starts at 7:00 PM. If there are leftovers, the men will serve soup after the service for anyone that missed the earlier serving. All proceeds will be used for a youth mission trip. Please come for the great food, uplifting service and community fellowship.

West Carroll Fashion Show
The West Carroll High School National Honor Society will be having a Fashion Show at the West Carroll Primary School on Saturday, March 27th at 2:00 PM. People of all ages are welcome to come to watch the entertaining show. Dresses for homecoming, prom, and graduation will be modeled. Anyone can buy or sell these dresses. Dog Jack Official Greeter
Dog Jack will be a featured guest at the RockfordTeaParty. His real name is Piglet and he is also the Official RockfordTeaParty Mascot, and yes, Piglet is a full fledged Movie Star. He stars in a movie portraying a civil war dog that became a hero to the soldiers for his daring dashes onto battlefields to find downed comrades. Tracy Doyle, a RockfordTeaParty Participant, is Piglet’s owner and they will be Official Greeters at the Event on April 6th (Visit www.rockfordteaparty.org for details). Midwest Roundup
The “Midwest Roundup”, an all day family event will take place on Sunday, April 11th, at the Stephenson County Fair Grounds in Freeport, Illinois. This unique all day event will focus on the beef industry. Approx. 60 lots will be offered, including productive bred cows, powerful bred heifers, elite show heifers, and service age bulls, and breeds like Angus, Simmental, Maine, Shorthorn and Crossbreds.
