Carroll County Farm Bureau

The 4C’s Primtimers, will be having their monthly meeting on Friday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Naaman Diehl Auditorium. Their program will be a potluck, cards, and games. If you are interested in joining or taking part in the 4C’s, feel free to make a dish to pass and come join the fun! The 4C’s are an older group who gets together every month for some lively entertainment. If you have questions, just give the office a call.

March is National Ag Month. We have a number of different items going on to celebrate the month. First off, the Women’s Committee is sponsoring a Farmer’s Share Promotion. On average, farmers only receive 19 cents per dollar when it comes to the cost of our food. We are offering consumers the chance to buy a $10 value bag of corn products for $1.90 at Shaw’s Food Pride. We will have a donation box and are asking consumers to donate the bag of food to the Mount Carroll/Savanna Food Pantry. Everyone who donates a bag will be given the chance to register for one of four $25 gift certificates to Shaw’s Food Pride.

The Women’s Committee has also assembled an Ag Basket to give to the first baby born in Carroll County during Ag Week which runs March 14-20. So if you know of someone who has a baby that week, be sure to give us a call! They have a cute little basket put together with lots of goodies.

Two books have also been donated to all of the public and school libraries in the county as part of National Ag Month. The books are, “Awesome Agriculture: Soybeans an A-to-Z Book” and “Soybeans in the story of agriculture”. Both books are co-written by Susan Anderson and JoAnne Buggey. They are targeted for children ages 4-6, and 7 and up, respectively. We hope you stop by and check them out!

We still have room in our computer classes, if you haven’t signed up yet, now is the time to do it. We need reservations by the end of today, March 3rd. The Intro to Word class is scheduled for Monday, March 8th at the Eastland High School from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and the Intro to Excel Class is set for March 15 at the Eastland High School from 6:30 -8:30 p.m. Both classes will be taught using the 2003 version. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members, or we have a two class special. Contact our office today for information.

For those of you who miss our Beanpod Candles, I have some great news! We are getting them back!! And better yet, they are already here!! So we will be transitioning our whole line back to them. We will have the 25 ounce and 16 ounce jars along with the 4.5 ounce. They have so many new fragrances that Jessica and I could not decide what to do. So stop in today! We have ordered quite a few little ones and are looking for your opinion on which to stock.

I am excited to announce we have a date and a route for this year’s tractor drive. It may be a trying trip and I may get lost, but it will be a fun one! There is one area of the county we haven’t toured yet, the northwest corner! The ride is set for Friday, July 23. We will be starting off from the Savanna Army Depot, traveling back roads to the Palisades Park, wind our way to the Stu Stone farm, then back to the depot.
